Introducing the Liberty Tree Foundation and its Democracy Conventions

I just came across this:

A new movement — a democracy movement — was born in the streets of Seattle on November 30, 1999. This movement’s early years were not easy. Pro-democracy organizers faced crisis after crisis: the stolen presidential elections of 2000 and 2004; the militarization of America that followed September 11th; the destruction of the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Katrina; the Supreme Court ruling that corporations wield constitutional rights to buy elections; and today, an economic crisis that is being used to impose fiscal austerity and corporatization schemes on our states and people.

This quote comes from, a site that seems to be the official outlet for events called “Democracy Conventions” spearheaded by Liberty Tree Foundation.

Their next convention is: Democracy Convention III: August 2-6, Minneapolis

And this is their Facebook Page: Democracy Convention – Home

Beyond that, I haven’t been able to find out much about this NGO and/or movement.

Ben Manski (who according to this interview is the founder and head of Liberty Tree Foundation) said: “…our movement has to be assertive and aggressive, because the reality is democracy has been under attack for many years, and many of our democratic institutions have already been undermined. We can’t simply “protect” democracy, because we don’t have it in most areas of our lives — even in our elections.”

Some good words here. On the other hand, I didn’t find news if these people do more than convene or if they sufficiently distinguish themselves so as not to be co-opted by or already being a front for the “Democratic” Party which, as anyone reading this blog probably by now knows, has for decades been just another tool for the oligarchy, just like the Republican Party. You see, the full name of the organization seems to be “Liberty Tree Foundation for the Democratic Revolution” which, if you ask me, doesn’t properly distance itself from the “Democratic” Party whose use of the word democratic is but a baldfaced lie nowadays.

I have to leave you with this half-baked introduction since I am out of time researching this obscure organization, movement, or whatever.

If a visitor to this blog can add anything, please be reminded that anyone can leave a comment below my articles, even anonymously. So, please do and be much appreciated for it.
