Thanks to Bernie Sanders’ 2016 primary campaign, Medicare for All is no longer falsely considered pie in the sky. In fact, while Bernie just released his Medicare for All bill in the Senate, John Conyers’ similar bill, which has been gathering dust since he introduced it all the way back in 2003, has now a lot more co-sponsors than ever before: a whopping 117 (compared to the previous high of 49 in 2015)!
And while some of these new co-sponsors smelled the bacon when Bernie swept the nation with enthusiasm for the good America we can build if we do the necessary work, some of them had to be dragged to it kicking and screaming, and some unswerving servants of their wealthy donors from the insurance industry are now discovering that they can find themselves being primaried out of their cushy jobs that make them rich on bribes while they are posing as our representatives. It makes me feel good. Time for a Dean-scream (though Howard Dean himself became a despicable sell-out): Yeah!!!
Let’s not think for a moment that we can get proper healthcare in our country unless we send this whole gang of crooks in politics packing or they see the pitchforks coming for them.
A little side-note to one of our Ex-P’s: Hey, Mr. “Oh, I’m so sweet and brown, just like chocolate” Obama; yes you who sold us false promises with your charming smile and are now so busy collecting big kick-backs from the banksters you shielded from prosecution and bailed out with our tax money… would you care to explain why you didn’t push Conyer’s ready-made bill after you assumed office having run your 2008 campaign promising us single-payer? Oh, right, you’re too busy getting paid middle class families’ lifelong savings as single-evening fees for worthless speeches, now that you are no longer president! I understand… a busy man… We’ll just ask your cash donors from the insurance industry instead. Is that OK? Too bad we can’t primary you anymore, Mr. Crook for whom I canvassed in 2008. But we did primary Hillary, didn’t we? And we’ve hardly gotten started, yet. Yeah!!!
