Video Weekend 12-16-2017 (8 Videos)

Another weekend collection of informative videos, this time centered around Net Neutrality, DNC reform (what little there is), and our systemic corruption (including the tax gifts to the rich).

I. Death of the Last Bastion of Free Speech:

A local rescue of Internet Freedom (a.k.a. Net Neutrality):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “INVENTOR of World Wide Web Speaks Net Neutrality! “)

The corporate attack is poised to overcome local countermeasures:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “The Destruction Of Net Neutrality Is Even Worse Than You Think“)

Good points:

  1. Corrupt politicians ban others from opposing them .
  2. The most corrupt, those who push policies that more or less the entire American people is against, pretend to be doing the opposite of what it is they are doing. Net Neutrality destroyers claim to be for the freedom of the Internet. It’s like an arson caught red-handed pouring gasoline on a house and claiming he is a firefighter. (which he is, but in an opposite sense of the general meaning)
  3. The revolving door which places corporate stooges in high government agency positions from where they betray the country to their corporations to which they return later for their pay-off.

Corporate greed is behind the repeal of Net Neutrality:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Ajit Pai Reluctantly Admits Repeal of Net Neutrality Poses “Risk” for Consumers “)

A point I’d like to make: if you somehow happen to consider corporations politically neutral and only after money (completely overlooking that bribing or buying the government creates a huge source of corporate money making it a logical corporate investment), then think about this: What would stop a despotic government from paying the corporations which control our information to censor the information flow? Haven’t you noticed how outsourcing has become the government’s handy means to have bad things done at its command and at the same time distance itself from them? If you haven’t noticed, maybe you should become a U.S. mercenary in the Middle East. It would be highly educational.

II. The fight within the “Democratic” Party to become a democratic party:

Amazingly, there are some news about a small bit of progress in the “Democratic” Party after we have been seeing nothing but its corporatist neoliberal thugs at the top digging in their heels since the 2016 debacle. Of course, I am sure, that bit of a bone they now threw to their critics is small enough that they are sure it won’t endanger their seats of power, corporate pay-offs, and privilege. Let’s not forget about the massive purges of the Bernie wing from the big “D” “Democratic” Party and the corrupt “leadership’s” stubborn clinging to corporate tit-for-tats throughout the entire hapless fight of the base for making the party represents them and the rest of the American people:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “The DNC Unity Reform Commission Results Are… “)

Aye… small concessions, small progress, but too small for sure… carefully kept small enough for the crooks still to rig the primaries again in 2020 just like last year… Oh dear. I am so tired of this. Let’s have a new party, a true people’s party ruled from below, not from above.

III. Our systemic corruption:

Inequality built into our system:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Debating Piketty’s theories on ‘Capital’ and inequality“)

I wonder why, instead of paying big undeserved bucks to this Kevin Hasset, they didn’t save money by simply tying a necktie around a big fat toad? Oh, right… the establishment media (unlike alternative media like me) are swimming in corporate money, so money is no object when casting such a propagandist show. So, scratch my question. … And what’s that weird tale of substituting workers with houses? Smoke and mirrors, as usual, I suppose. And, as usual, the moderator in establishment media edifies everybody, even the bloated toad, as an “expert” and a serious person, and thus the case allegedly isn’t closed, our systematic inequality isn’t real, and water isn’t wet. Let’s pretend to mull over this issue for all eternity instead of admitting how obvious it is and solving it post-haste.

Great comments (in nearly unintelligible heavy Scottish accent):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Mark Blyth – Republican tax plan, Paradise Papers, Brazille’s DNC allegations, Theresa May“)

Good point: When you legalize immorality and evil, it may then be “legal,” but it is still wrong.

Richard Wolff at his best. This speech is dauntingly long but packed with hair-raising truths (incl. the GOP tax gift to the rich) and sharp economic and political analyses, the kinds of insights we all need to make meaningful change. If you are not too interested in the lengthy introductions, you can skip ahead to 10:53 minutes into the video where Wolff starts with a big splash about public education:

Ending Note: I hope you enjoyed this collection. It takes me at least 100 hours a month to research and write for this site. If you find any value in what I do, please consider becoming a patron and supporting this site with an automatic monthly donation of $1 or more. If you can’t afford this, then don’t, but please share my posts, tell folks about my online course offering, refer others to this site, refer me to paying outlets, partake in discussion, or contribute essays of your own. Thanks. Only together can we change the world. 🙂

  1. Keeping my fingers crossed that the NY Attorney General can file a successful suit against the FCC and we can all be part of the class action to return Net Neutrality. Otherwise, we all better start practicing our Morse code and smoke signals–and get out the copy machines and start up our own newspapers.
