Reminder: Half of our federal discretionary spending goes into our military industrial complex and its for-profit wars. All that government spending wasted on murdering innocent people and sending American G.I.s in as cannon fodder making the world abhor us. Imagine spending this money instead on rebuilding our roads, bridges, and dikes, on Medicare for All, good free education for all, federal job programs, and an expanded Social Security for All. Imagine it being diverted into a Good Lives for All strategy, away from the classical good lives for a small ruling class at the cost of everyone else strategy that doesn’t even stop at genocide.

Evidence:
Friends of the fossil fuel industry and their puppets keep making all sorts of baseless assertions to counter the conclusions of climate scientists. The real way to address scientific theories one is (or wishes to be) skeptical about is to look at the evidence. For example, the fact that climate changed many times in Earth’s history before humans played a role doesn’t mean we cannot play a role now. And the fact that past global warmings were related to CO2 coming from volcanoes doesn’t mean it can’t happen now when the CO2 comes from us burning fossil fuels. It’ the same gas, after all, no matter how it is released into the atmosphere:

Someone named Bernie a catalyst rather than the sole solution, and Bernie himself never tired of pointing out that one man alone can’t bring change, that his 2016 campaign wasn’t about him, and that it takes a good portion of the people to bring about true and good change (namely from the bottom). Well, it’s nice to see so many stepping up to the plate already.

XVII. The Bigger Picture in Party Politics
It is a sad fact that some people have been brainwashed so severely since their birth, growing up in dumb subcultures while being incessantly bombarded with propaganda from the establishment media, that they form a portion of the population that will always vote against a healthy society and even against many of their own interests because they simply don’t understand the world we are living in. For those of us who are better informed and more awake, the thing to keep in mind (and which David Pakman indirectly hints in this video) is that the politics in which we must engage is never about a single candidate. It is about a bundle of critical issues. Things like fair taxation, healthcare for all, education, freedom of speech and association, election integrity, political representation for all instead of the winner-take-all nonsense that keeps two corrupt parties in charge of our politics, and a fair economy. Pakman is also right that we could use a higher participation by voters, but – and this point he didn’t make – not in support of one of the two corrupt mainstream parties, but in support of important issues and third parties that support them, and especially a broad base new people’s party to put pressure on the twin party tyranny and hopefully even replace one of the corrupt R&D parties with one that is internally democratic with a small “d” rather than controlled from its top. So, if Pakman argues at the end of this clip for more “D” support, I don’t agree. I rather recommend Green or MPP support. Much healthier avenue than keeping the right (R) and “left” (“D”) arm of the ruling class in place.

Final comment: So, while I tend to try and argue over important issues in ways that may open the eyes for those who are still ignorant, Pakman does have a point that a segment of voters is beyond all hope of ever grasping reality, and spending much time and energy on them is a waste of effort. There best chance to wake up out of their slumber is when positive change is actually brought about and they can see the benefits of it.
