AOC’s Bernie endorsement and Bernie’s fantastic “Back” rally in New York after he is back out of the hospital:
I. AOC’s Bernie Endorsement
This is about a guaranteed advanced standard of living in the United States (the richest nation in hisory) with no ifs no no buts. Power to the people, and a Good Life for All:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Endorses Bernie For President
Additional note: When we mention a people’s revolution, we should realize that this is simply a continuation of our famous 18th century American Revolution where the people shared these aims promoted again today but wealthy creeps subverted the outcome into the mess we are in today.
I hear the echo from the hopeful past: All people are created equal and endowed with unalienable rights – among these life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And the role of government by the consent of the governed is to reflect and protect these and other rights and promote the general welfare (a.k.a. a Good Life for All).
II. Bernie’s Fantastic Back Rally with AOC in New York
Quote: “Everyone gets a seat at the table, and everyone gets a slice of the pie — not this one person taking 9 slices and letting everybody else fight over the crumbs of the last slice. … We need democracy not just in electoral politics. We need a democratic economy.”
Here you can watch the entire huge rally with Jane Sanders (intro), Michael Moore (great, nearly perfect speech (except for a small bit of D tribalism at the end), starting 22:41 min in), Carmen Yulín Cruz (soso), Nina Turner (pretty darn good ~1:05:40 “Mad with a purpose!” even bringing up ageism if I heard correctly. Kudos!), Tiffany Cabán (“Decarcerate and restore communities.” People Power instead of rich folks power.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (~1:32:33 Our worth as human beings isn’t based on money! “It is no joke to stand up to corporate power and established interests.”), Bernie (A government for working people, not the 1%. The widespread adversity of struggling to stay alive.)… If you move to the Youtube platform following this link, you can also watch the flood of mobile phone text messages accompanying the rally.
Bernie’s Back Rally with AOC in New York
“We the People, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty, we do ordain this constitution of the United States of America” … which has been plowed under along with the lives of rest of us by the heinous ruling class by now.
One critique by me: Yes, we all need free healthcare and education and affordable housing (ideally self-owned), but not merely a “living wage”, rather a living income. Must children toil for their “living wage”, can we – when we grow old and crippled from old age and no longer employable – not retire on a living income? And during our +- healthy middle years between childhood and old age, is it right for us to live in constant anxiety of being kicked out of our jobs, homes, and hospitals because a rich upper class decides who gets to have and keep a paid employment while they swim in an ocean of money created by the rest of us? No! This ocean must be redirected to put a financial floor under ALL of us at every age! Social Security for All made from the prosperity stolen by the rich. Affluence for ALL made from the greatest national wealth in human history that can give enough to everybody instead of being hoarded and abused by a virtually aristocratic class of rich people.
Bernie Quotes: “Twenty-five hedge fund managers make twice as much money as ALL of the kindergarten teachers in America. … Today the three wealthiest Americans own more wealth than the bottom half of American society, and the top 1% have seen their wealth increase by 21 trillion dollars over the last 30 years. And today we say to Wall Street and the billionaire class: you ain’t gonna get it all anymore. … Justice long overdue is coming to the United States of America. … The time is now to tell the corporate elite of this country that enough is enough and we will no longer accept their greed and their corruption and their attacks against the working families of America. … Whether it is the economic establishment, whether it’s the political establishment, or whether it’s the media establishment, what they want us to believe is that real and fundamental change can never occur, They want us to believe that our vision for the future is unrealistic. That it is a pipe dream. That it is simply Utopian thinking. They want us to believe that the only reality that we can live under is the status quo, that real change is impossible, and – by the way – it’s not just Republicans who give us that line. That is exactly what I heard on the stage of the democratic debate in Ohio a few nights ago. … We are going to end the international embarrassment of the United States of America being the only major country on Earth that does not guarantee health care to all of their people. … We will end the absurdity of America spending twice as much per capita on health care as the people of almost every major country on Earth, while at the same time 87 million people are under-insured or uninsured, 30 thousand Americans die each year because they don’t get to a doctor on time, and 500,000 go bankrupt because they cannot afford to pay their medical bills. We will take on the greed of the insurance companies and the drug companies and pass a Medicare for All single-payer program. ”
Nelson Mandela quote: “It always seems impossible until it is done.”
