Our capitalist country gov-plans a lot, the money lords (enterprise owners) also plan and often avoid market. And the USSR used a lot of marketing, not government-planning everything. Quote: “The United States and the Soviet Union were at opposite ends of a political fight. And when that happens you tend to demonize the other side to simplify and to forget that we all have strengths and weaknesses, and then locate all the strength on your side and all the weaknesses on the other. It may be understandable but in an adult it’s childish as well.”

4. Pushing us Further into a Third World Country
The Fed blames inflation on workers (for having dared to ask for higher wages after losses from pandemic’s massive unemployments) and thus justifies its interest raises that are bound to give us more unemployment again, thus driving us into despair accepting lower wages. Ultimately, this will turn us (even more than I already sent) into a third world country. (heck, China has built a big middle class, so erase it in the U.S. to regain a lot of poor wage slaves for the exploitation by global robber billionaires)

5. American Historic Allure of Self-Employment
Kevin speaks with Elizabeth Anderson, author and professor, about the historical notions of free markets and self-employment in order to understand why workers today still consider themselves “free” and why they are (perhaps?) more likely to choose self-employment over collective ownership. Now, IMHO, right-wingish folks may prefer solitary self-employment over worker co-ops. Personally, I don’t want to have to do ALL a business’s work (like accounting, book keeping, law crap, registration crap…) in addition to my own expertise work even though finding my own clients would seem safer to me than employer dependence. Why not combine these things (like personal freelance work and community-built cooperation with things like accounting, …, pension, even housing…) in some kind of freelancers co-op? I am sure lots of folks would love that, but I haven’t found such an organization, yet (only some mostly British freelance “umbrella” companies (non appearing like co-ops to me)).

Some tips how to currently reduce our health care catastrophe that gets so much more complex and confusing when self-employed. Not specially pointed out: in many states one can now get free Medicaid insurance when being poor. Unfortunately, growing freelance income could easily make that get taken away. A big problem. (worse if making savings might also get one punished… still unclear in my state)
