Video Weekend 04-21-2018 (11 videos)

I have been very pressed for time, but here is this week’s video weekend. Topics: media corruption, political challengers & fighting back, disaster capitalism, system analysis, economy, and our oligarchy’s unbelievably cruel and insincere foreign policy.

I. Media War

The corruption of our mass media. Ed Schultz reveals he was ordered to media-blackout on Bernie:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “MSNBC Worse Than Sinclair Broadcasting Ed Schultz Reveals”)

So cool when (so rarely) the truth slips out on the establishment media:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Bombshell: Professor Stuns MSNBC Panel On Syria“)

A discussion on media corruption with Chris Hedges:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “On Contact: The Destruction of an Independent Press with Mark Crispin Miller“)

II. Candidates

Dylan Ratigan runs for office:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Dylan Ratigan Brings Green New Deal To New York “)

Comment: What this made pop up in my mind: Why wars for oil when renewable energy is waiting for us all at our doorsteps. (wind and solar — other countries have windmills and solar panels everywhere and don’t know where to spend all their energy)

III. Disaster Capitalism

Disaster Capitalism on the march (just like in New Orleans afterr Hurricane Katrina) — screw people on behalf of absentee investors, rob them of everything, with corrupt governments acting as enablers… The Puerto-Rican people are organizing to rebuild their lives, infrastructure, and economy in a healthy way, but disaster capitalists and corrupt politicians are determined to ruin these efforts:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “The Battle for Paradise: Naomi Klein Reports from Puerto Rico “)

Note: Remember that the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is an “unincorporated territory” of the United States (a nice way of saying: a colony) whose people are U.S. citizens by law. The low-wealth people of New Orleans who were robbed of their homes to build real estate investments for the rich on their lands are also U.S. citizens… Disasters are used as cover and excuse for speeding up the ruthless raid of the 1% on the 99%. And all the while the crooks in charge deny the climate change which breeds these storms…

IV. System Analysis

System Analysis: Opportunity Hoarding, Dominaton, Exploitation, Mixed Class Identities, Globalisation, and Political Attributions

A bit over-intellectual, but pretty interesting starting at 16:10 min into the video:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “LEFT OUT: Erik Olin Wright on understanding class—a Marxian perspective“)

V. Economy

I thought I shared this one already. But I don’t see it in my archives… so:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Economic Update: Beyond the Political Theater “)

So… why don’t the older workers just become door greeters at Walmart? Are they lazy? They haven’t been able to pay off their student loans or mortgages or can’t afford their medical expenses? As door greeters they surely will be able to. Stop complaining and instead praise our system and keep seeking a new job and take the blame when there are no jobs for you!

What the Congressional Budget Office’s analysis of income and social services over the last 35 years (which concluded that the incomes of the poorest 20% rose nearly 2% per year, the income of most people only 1%, and the income of the richest 1% by 225%) leaves out are some other issues that seriously affect our prosperity (or lack thereof): exploded student loans, home prices, rent prices, and healthcare costs, plus the huge costs arising from childcare and elderly care that in the formerly common single-earner, two-parent households did often not come into play.

Nice intro and further info:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Economic Update: Winds of System Change“)

VI. Fighting Back

Good audio interview (on fighting back from the bottom) :

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Savage Joy was live with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez“)

Themes:

  • We can beat gravy train candidates by not collecting BIG Money donations to pay consultancy agencies to collect the signatures to get on a ballot but do the leg work ourselves.
  • We can (and should) fight on all fronts simultaneously: inside the “Democratic” Party, from without (running independent or boosting third parties), then eliminate closed primaries, gerrymandering…
  • Let’s not incarcerate tons of non-violent people.

VII. Foreign Policy

Syrian truth: We keep getting lied into wars. Most of the official news we get from Syria are produced by the White Helmets who are allied with the Islamist terror groups and specialize in producing fake news. If nothing else, watch one of their videos being created by them, starting at 14:06 min into this video:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Press For Truth interview with Kevork Almassian“)

Our decades-long terror on the Middle East which has created Islamist terror is bad enough, but not all the imperialistic crimes our horrid establishment commits. You Think You Know Our Foreign Policy? You think our country is a good neighbor in the Americas? Check this Out!

The true face of utter Evil of our oligarchy (example: some 14,000 murdered by Chiquita Banana):

Strategy Condensed: The Way Forward

To solve our tragic and growing problems while we still can(!), we must put aside traditional party allegiances and blind loyalties, and instead join forces to focus primarily on election integrity (so our votes count and aren’t suppressed), on getting money out of politics (so our votes even matter), and on reforming our extremely rigged economic system so it can’t continue to fuel money in politics and the manipulative narratives which currently shape much of public opinion. Blood money from our rigged economy finances two corrupt major parties, an army of lobbyists 42,000 strong, and nation-wide brainwashing through “think tanks” and corporate mass media. This is how the establishment recovered from FDR’s New Deal and re-corrupted absolutely everything. I suppose that, while we are at it, we should also break up the big media trusts, not just the big banks. What say? In the meantime, let’s make use of and support alternative media like this one, so we can grow our own awareness and that of those around us. Naturally, let’s push for our immediate needs, as well: healthcare for all and reasonable drug prices, income security, a fair corruption-free justice and law enforcement system, free education at all levels, protection of communities and the environment, and so on.

Be a leader. Be one of the first to vote outside the twin party tyranny when outside candidates are far better than the corporate stooges dominating the Dempublican charade. There are still people who let themselves be played by the you-can’t-vote-third-party-or-independent-unless-the-majority-is-already-doing-so fib. That’s a trick to maintain the status-quo, and the way to break through this is to lead the way rejecting this false choice narrative.

How the Fight from the Bottom Looks at the Local Level

Here is the inspiring recording of activity at the local level. If you think you are the only one sick of Big Money in politics so greedily taken by the treacherous major parties think again. If you think you are the only one who wants to kick these corrupt political “parties” (I rather think of them as political gangs, a political form of organized crime), then think again. If you think nobody will move to replace this corruption with a true people’s party or coalition of people’s parties representing you and me, watch this video where a local chapter is forming:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Chicago Movement For a People’s Party Chapter Launch”)

Note: We all need to undergo a transformation at some point in our lives to awaken to the crooked rigging of our system, pull off the wool from our eyes, and get ready to fight for what’s right.

Thought: So, maybe, thanks to Noam Chomsky speaking his mind, we will some day have Nick Brana as president, and good life will return to the United States. And this time for all!

Hear, hear: How divorced the vision of a people’s party is from the major parties we currently have.   Continue reading

The Federal Deficit Myth

OR: We Have the Money to Have Good Things

With tax day just having come and gone like a deadly meteorite with countless annual casualties, now may be a good day to discuss the federal deficit (and national debt), so often mentioned to justify federal budget decisions. In connection with this, here is one of Stephanie Kelton’s best (or so I think) interviews:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “There IS Money For Good Things – Professor Stephanie Kelton”)

Gist: As Stephanie Kelton explains, the federal deficit is created when the federal government spends – say, a $100 billion – but collects only – say, $90 billion – in fees and taxes. The resulting $10 billion red ink of the government is someone else’s black ink. Someone else got $10 billion out of it.

Let’s think this through a little: In our current corrupt system, this “someone” who got the $10 billion black ink is mostly a gang consisting of billionaires and their corporations, banks, Wall Street predators, CEOs, and affiliated millionaire shareholders. So, a growing federal deficit doesn’t mean that we all are sinking as a nation. It merely means that the government-created money was spent but not fully circulated back; and that, as a result of where it was left, some parts of the country rose up while others didn’t. If we raise up those who are already floating high in the clouds, while we leave struggling members of our nation in the dust, that is the real problem.

We therefore shouldn’t worry about the federal deficit but about how we invest and distribute wealth and income. In the most prosperous country in human history, we have the prosperity (measured with money) for good things for us all. Unfortunately, and stupidly, we give way too many of the good things to the robber billionaires. That’s why they fly around the globe in gold-plated cloud castles (made from private jumbo jets), have a luxury mega yachts parked in every major harbor in order to one-up each other, have multiple palaces waiting for each of them in every place they might choose to visit on Earth (most of them standing empty when they choose not to visit), have whole fleets of Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini luxury cars parked in all these palaces, own the best pieces of land on Earth where the rest of us may not “trespass” and can only dream of ever visiting, hold in their possession the factories, offices, hotels, banks, shops, construction and transport companies, and such, where we work and are forced to grovel before them and their managers. It’s also why they can pour money into politics to bring it to heel and make the government serve them instead of its people.

Quote (Kelton answering why people should care): “People should care because … the deficit is normally trotted out by policymakers and pundits and others as the reason that we can’t do more for the economy, more for people who are struggling — saying »Oh we’d love to be able to put more money in education or to deal with infrastructure, but we can’t because of the deficit.« So, … it’s just this impediment to allowing better policy to create programs and lift people up, to allow us to have a safer cleaner more prosperous economy. The deficit [myth] is this barrier that prevents us from getting better economic policy.”

This, indeed, is the true nature of the oh-so-scary federal deficit or the national debt it builds up over the years: it’s nothing more than a lame excuse for the corrupt gangsters at the top to justify their cutting of government programs and redirection of that government money into their own pockets, say when they give themselves huge tax breaks or pump up government military spending (which raises the profits of those billionaires who control the arms industry)… Never ever do we hear claims that our government can’t afford those giant expenditures and revenue cuts. Only when we, the people, whom the government should actually serve, ask for government investment in us (such as our schools, healthcare, transportation, career development, jobs, or to help us climb out of poverty), only then the chorus breaks out with two-faced politicians and media pundits howling about the deficit and asking where the money should come from. It’s so hypocritical that all my life I have marveled at people believing this obvious scam.

By the way, yesterday’s publication on The Revolution Continues has lots of awesome graphic memes.

Video Weekend 04-14-2018 (11 videos)

Some videos I wanted to share for weeks kept slipping through the cracks (what with me having all sorts of existential battles to fight each week and day). Here they finally are, and then some. There’s a lot of bern in this compilation.

  1. Inequality
  2. Mentality
  3. Party Corruption
  4. Media
  5. Foreign Policy
  6. War

I. Inequality

To start, here is the full recording of the inequality town hall of Bernie Sanders which you probably have seen already somewhere (I think I may have shared at least a small clip from this already). More videos further below refer to it. If you want to (re-)watch or search through the whole event, you can do it right here:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Bernie’s Inequality in America National Town Hall – TYT Summary “)

  • Note: Very important point: the top 10% (not just 1%) do well enough and therefore do everything in their power to block the 90% below them from doing better.
  • Question: How are people who can’t get a job join a labor union?
  • Note: 44% of homeless people have a job but get paid too little to afford a home.
  • Good comment by Darrick Hamilton: Can we simply work hard and study hard and [thereby] adress inequality. The answer is no.
  • 1:08:45: How ourcorrupt laws are written.
  • Note: Another good point: the establishment not only rigs our elections and legislative process but also works on lowering our expectations so we let it all happen.
  • Noteworthy phrases: people being cut out of the game, shaming the poor
  • Nice quote from Bernie: ”… this 1% that wants it all and is prepared to step on everybody.”

Comment: Dubious (neo?)-liberals wooing progressive voters are always saying that they and we want equality of opportunity. I am not satisfied with that. I want a less cruel system. In fact, I want a system that is NOT cruel.

And here is the TYT summary:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Bernie’s Inequality in America National Town Hall – TYT Summary”)

… and Kyle Kulinski’s commentary:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Michael Moore: Dems Need To Be A Party For Workers“)

… and “The Rational National’s” commentary:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Bernie And Michael Moore Slam Corporate Media’s Failure On Poverty “)

Everybody is empathetic, a self-serving “conservative” says (except he, apparently, who places the “Free Market” god above compassion and solidarity that he believes we simply cannot afford): — It’s sometimes helpful to check up on the other side of the fence in our divided society. So, under this link you can listen to a well-to-do, comfortable-all-his-life GOP/libertarian supporter ignorantly philosophizing over economics and reinforcing the to him so convenient belief that helping the disadvantaged is simply not possible or will miraculously happen by itself through the profit-driven market which doesn’t give a rat’s tail about people’s misery. (btw, loosing abysmal jobs with slave wages is actually a good thing, not a bad thing, if we make it possible to replace them with better alternatives – and the example of McDonalds replacing people with machines happened actually in the context of McDonalds having had record profits; furthermore, Bill Gates created only a microscopic portion of “his product”, so why does he get almost all the profit? … Like many confused folks, this guy does get some points at least somewhat right, such as that rising student loans without university price regulations drives the prices for university attendance up (it’s only part of the story, though, as usual). For the same reason, by the way, a universal basic income or federal job program shouldn’t come without safeguards like rental price control to prevent rent usury that could undo any widened prosperity).

II. Mentality

People’s inside diseases result in a sick society. Meet the quasi-religious mentality at the top of our dungheap society pooping down on us below:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “The Religion Of Libertarianism“)

III. Party Corruption

Topics: a fool’s errand to run as an honest candidate inside a corrupt party; no law enforcement concern over Americans stealing elections from Americans (only Russian suspects of minor electoral shoplifting seem to matter), election officials who tear up ballots, immunity of white-collar criminals, corporate and government crimes being the biggest of all crimes by far, helping culture and society instead of only a few individuals, etc.:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “[106] Democrats Destroy Democracy, Banks Launder Money For Terr¤rists w/ Tim Canova“)

IV. Media

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Bernie Hammers Corporate Media: They Cover Stormy Daniels Instead Of Poverty!“)

If it doesn’t get too repetitive, here is a similar commentary by Mike Figueredo.

V. Foreign Policy

The “World Police” fosters dictatorships and war:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Bernie Stands Up To War Machine! Introduces Yemen Resolution “)

VI. War

An exact replay of last year’s media stunt[1] to legitimize yet another American war crime in the Middle East[2]:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “WEB EXCLUSIVE: Strikes In Syria – The Hard Facts (with Max Blumenthal)”)

Note: the U.S. Military Industrial Complex creates and supports Islamist terrorism (together with Saudi Arabia and Turkey). Are some eyes finally opening?

VII. Special Conversation

In this excellent conversation of two champions, Nick Braña from the Movement for a People’s Party talks with Tim Canova about leaving the “Democratic Party” and a lot more:

Sharp Analysis of Running Independent

When we want necessary change and no more corrupt politicians, we get mocked and told that we’re showing up to a knife fight with a spoon. I say, when a true people’s candidate tries to run for office within a major party that cheats him out of the race, that is showing up to a knife fight with a spoon. Leaving such a corrupt party to run as an independent is picking up a gun, because either winning or being a “spoiler” will topple the corrupt party bosses who cheated the honest candidate that way (at least when he is running against one of of them). Mike Figueredo sees Tim Canova’s courageous move the same way:

Chris Hedges & Richard Wolff – Great Conversation (video)

Here are 28.5 minutes of a great conversation. Normally, I’d try to share a video of this length on a weekend (my video weekend posts), but it’s still kind of borderline in length and too good to place on so long a wait. So, without further ado:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Richard Wolff WARNING!! Why American Collapse is Only Just Beginning (Not Ending)”)

So Funny and True (a hilarious political video)

Except for calling the corrupted wing of the “Democratic” party “centrist”. The real term is corporatist (A.K.A. neoliberal, A.K.A. neocon, A.K.A. plutocratic, kleptocratic, gravy train, graftist, corrupt…).

(The “BernieWouldaWon” slight, if I understand it correctly, is a bit off too, in my book at least, since nationwide election theft – whether in the primaries or elsewhere – is not a trifle, but the rest of this sketch is truly delightful.)

So, anyway, have a lot of fun watching Francesca Fiorentini’s clever rant in this witty, spot-on Newsbroke video:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Democrat Vs. Democrat: The Fight Between Progressives And Centrists”)

Have a happy start of the week! ;-p

Video Weekend 04-07-2018, Part B: Jimmy Dore (5 neat videos)

Last weekend, I featured Lee Camp a lot (including a “So, who is Lee?” segment sharing a more personal interview with him). This weekend, a lot of great Jimmy Dore videos piled up, most of which I didn’t have the time to include in yesterday’s video weekend compilation. To repair that, here are the ones I couldn’t include yesterday but would have liked to. They are some of his best. If you missed them during the last few days, I hope you have the time today to watch them. Enjoy! Especially #2 is superb!

I. Good one: Behold the lock-step march of the establishment’s propaganda-spewing Big Media monopoly, spiked with their script-reading talking heads (all massively overpaid so they won’t question their treacherous work). Jimmy reminds us how this propaganda army was enabled by Bill Clinton and the neoliberal Fake-Democrats, out to destroy the last vestiges of democracy together with their Republican buddies while pretending to protect it. The work of two corrupt political gangs… pardon me… “parties”:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Sinclair Media Nightmare Made Possible By Clinton & Democrats“)

II. Excellent one: Upsetting the apple cart. Tim Canova, who challenged utterly corrupt Debbie Wasserman Schultz in 2016 and – by all appearance – was cheated out of the race with election fraud just like Bernie Sanders, has left the “Democratic” Party to fight Wasserman Schultz from the outside since fighting from the inside was made impossible by the corrupt party bosses. This led to a really cool conversation with Jimmy Dore about our rigged elections (and the Russian phantoms) with some hard facts:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Tim Canova Leaves Democratic Party & Support Increases”)

The point: when retaking democracy from within the “Democratic” Party is impossible (because of systemic criminality in the party leadership), then the fight must be brought from the outside.   Continue reading

Video Weekend 04-07-2018 (8 videos – some long with segment pointers and commentaries)

This weekend compilation shares videos on a variety of subjects mostly dealing with our systemic corruption, its sad consequences, and the narratives and mindsets that support it:

Categories:

  1. System Analysis
  2. Mindset
  3. Media (and some fun)
  4. Candidates Facing Political Corruption
  5. Economy
  6. Political Conversation

I. System Analysis

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “American Empire: An Act of Collective Madness“)

Quotes:

  • Tariq Ali: “This total, uncritical acceptance of capital and corporate power is not the way the world is going to move forward. An alternative to that is what needs to be mounted. And, on it’s success or failure will depend the future not just of this country but of the planet.”
  • David Korten: “If you look at where we are headed as a nation and as a species, we’re going where nobody in their right mind will want to go. This is a very decisive moment. We have to literally choose our future as a nation and as a species.”
  • Tariq Ali: “Who owns this country? Not its people. It is owned, essentially, as is the case elsewhere in the world, by the rich and the very rich — which George W. Bush, when he was president, put in [these] very memorable words: ‘We are on the side of the haves and the have-mores.’” (perhaps he refers to this event)

II. Mindset

Edifying lords of corruption such as genocide-scale war profiteers who, on the side, also de facto erased our Bill of Rights:

More on the loss of our morals — we celebrate war criminals instead of prosecuting them:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Bush Era War Criminals Embraced By Establishment Media“)

Money, The New God

The wrong mindset sets us up for hurt, flipping our priorities and supporting economic inequality and widespread corruption.

This documentary makes some very good points but also has passages I don’t approve of, the kinds that divide people over religion. The good points and the news on a whistleblower who was fired, threatened and jailed for exposing the banksters’ money laundering of criminals and other rich goons are definitely well worth watching. Below the clip, I point to various segments in the video that you can skip to:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Money, happiness and eternal life – Greed (director’s cut) | DW Documentary“)

Segments:

  1. The real beef starts at 28:07 min into the video.
  2. 42:02: “We became consumed with consumption.”
  3. A question asked by a kid: why do people do wrong, or right, knowingly? My answer: various conditions and motives depending on their living circumstances: greed, narcissism, and status-whoring in the case of the rich and well-to-do; despair, resignation, and the next survival move on the list in case of the rest.
When you have to struggle to pay this month’s rent, the global climate shifts a notch down on your list of worries. And when you are a rich lord, seeing yourself as a god and living the life of a demon lord stomping on everyone else, your head is in the clouds because you don’t want to look down on the ones you are stepping on (unless you are a cruel psychopath actually enjoying the blood on your feet).
So, most of us are wearing blinders of some kind, much enabled by our mainstream media and politicians, of course.
  4. 1:18:13: Wisdom and compassion… how to spread it among the young?
  5. 1:20:59: Finally someone other than myself addressing the idea of a mortality and a fulfilled, meaningful life.

Ending words: only by melting the ice in the heart of man, man will have a chance to change and start using his knowledge wisely.

III. Media (and some fun)

A little fun with the media (talking about what really matters rather than just chanting gang slogans):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Kyle Kulinski Of Secular Talk Utterly Baffles Fox News Talking Heads“)

IV. Candidates Facing Political Corruption

When the “Democrats” rig their primaries, running as a Dem is pointless:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Debbie Wasserman Schultz Opponent Tim Canova Dumps Democrats“)

V. Economy

Dirty tricks and mindsets to get and stay rich and shaft the public, gender pay, slave-like over-work, homeless children…:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Socialism Past, Present, and Future“)

VI. Political Conversation

We all need to have political conversations with our fellow Americans to lift our awareness and debunk myths and manipulative narratives and come to fully understand what we need to demand and implement for a better future. These are real conversations about real issues that we must have, not the popularized bleating, barking, and repeating of party slogans and propaganda. If you want a sample, you can be a fly on the wall at this conversation between Jamarl Thomas and Debbie Lusignan (I liked the early part best; later it unraveled a bit):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Debbie Lusignan, the SaneProgressive, Live! Not To Be Missed!“)

The best part: Get to know the mafia-like powers controlling our government and open up to realism, going beyond partisanship. (this part is to challenge our believes and drive our awakening further; not easy if you haven’t advanced enough, yet; it’s about us needing to deprogram ourselves from the manipulative narratives, sugar-coating, and warped perceptions that have been instilled in us our entire lives):

Here is an example. You get yourself elected, maybe with partially good intentions mixed in with the plan to get rich – say, you wanted to reverse the torture and war terror of the Bush-Cheney regime – but the forces behind the curtain convince you otherwise and you flip:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Famous Victim Of US Torture Speaks Out”)
