COVID-19 Killing People’s Heroes and Farewell to David Graeber

David Graeberfrom the Occupy Wall Street movement, reputed to have coined and promoted the statement “We are the 99%”, and shared here on Beanstock’s World a bunch of times with his astounding insightshas died 10 days ago at age 59. Yes, only 59(!) from “internal bleeding”. Lethal internal bleeding at such a young age and without a bullet or knife stab or such smells to me a lot like COVID-19, to be honest. Oddly, an issues not mentioned anywhere on the main media (not even on Wikipedia). Here, btw, is an article digging into the broad spectrum of coronavirus symptoms: The Great Invader: How COVID Attacks Every Organ

Many of us will miss him.

Economics: Shorter Work Hours vs UBI

Richard Wolff gives lots of awesome speeches and explanations, but sometimes he also skips over vital points like probably all of us. Here is one such case:

Economic Update: Beyond Universal Basic Income
Democracy At Work

Comment: Richard Wolff is probably right that reduced full-time workweek hours could be used less well by sociopathic demagogues than a UBI to divide people because the current weird ideology of our right to live deriving exclusively from us working paid jobs would continue as before. No shaking of the boat. There would be less risk of misleading people into thinking that they work shabby jobs and pay painful taxes only to keep lazy other people from having to work (while always overlooking that this is exactly what we are doing in the current system, although not really for under-supplied poor people who get very little help, but rather for all those super-rich people who own most of what can be owned and swim in a huge stream of money flow they do NOT earn by work).  Continue reading “Economics: Shorter Work Hours vs UBI”

I. Satire: Corporate War on the Media

… as you can see, it’s not only happening in the U.S. (where it has already come close to the end, crushing truth-telling as good as completely):

(Note: If the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for thejuicemedia and the title: “Honest Government Ad | The ABC”)

Note: This reminds me of our own public broadcasting institutions which have been secretly taken over by corporate money due to insufficient public funding, so that even they largely march in step with the big corporate media channels, raining the establishment propaganda on us and avoiding to tell us the truth about the oligarchy’s evil doings. Defend Free Press and whistleblowers (like Manning and Assange) anyone? Anyone in the big media? What’s that I’m hearing? A bird whistling? Wind blowing tumbleweed?

What’s with the Anti-Welfare Argument: “I can spend my money better than the government”?

Well, sure. If you’re rich you can spend the money that fell into your lap better on YOURSELF than the government would after taxing some of it back from you. Duh!

How does that disqualify taxes or government spending on the poor, though?   Continue reading “What’s with the Anti-Welfare Argument: “I can spend my money better than the government”?”

On Average, Each American Employee would make $17,000 More Each Year If…

…if it weren’t for the rich stealing from us. … if about 40 years ago they hadn’t begun revving up their plunder of working Americans — this made possible by them having bought the government and having used it to deregulate themselves (removing the referee from the economic game) and also by having used it to shift the tax burden on working families.

I reported on these economic statistics in the past and calculated that the rich are raking in at least half of our earnings (that we work for and they don’t). In fact, my own calculation came to the average working class family making $45,500 more per year if we weren’t getting robbed by the rich.

TYT recently gave a report detailing some of these stats. The clip gets most informative towards the end (6:44 min in) — the preceding stuff is less clear:

One man’s wish: Let the people be free!

At the end of this short piece, I share a video that’ been gathering dust in my archives.

It may be rather long and rambling, but the great point Jamarl’s speech ultimately comes down to is: What kind of life do we want to live? He mentions nobody wanting to be a cog in a wheel which is what people end up being in our current human world. So, ask yourself what kind of life do you want to live?   Continue reading “One man’s wish: Let the people be free!”

Video Weekend 03-10-2018 (9 videos)

This video weekend compilation deals with our rigged economy, rigged elections (and cures for them), the fate of the wealth the rich wrench from us, and multi-topic discussions of Kyle Kulinski with Jimmy Dore and Ron Placone with Jamarl Thomas. Other stars in the videos: Richard Wolff, Lee Camp, Tulsi Gabbard, and Debbie Lusignan. Enjoy! Have a happy weekend! 🙂

  1. The Rigged Economy
  2. The Rigged Elections
  3. Where the Fruits of our Labor go
  4. Final Discussions

I. The Rigged Economy

Very good episode by Richard Wolff. Ever wondered how much the ““Democratic” Party ever was on the right side?

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Economic Update: A System Rigged Against Us“)

The rigging and the wealth of the robber billionaires’ system that imprisons and enslaves us:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “How Amazon Is Screwing America“)

II. The Rigged Elections

So, you have been wondering if governments try to influence elections in other countries, including our own heavily home-rigged elections? As I have been saying, (1) yes, this has always been going on, (2) the U.S. does most of it, and (3) Russia is dwarfed by others:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “British Data Company Admits Meddling In U.S. Elections w/Lee Camp“)

Worried about election hacking (whether real or the overblown Russia narrative)? Here’s the thing to do:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Here’s How To Secure Elections-“Paper Ballot” Bill Introduced By Tulsi Gabbard “)

Finally some action instead of the endless Russia distraction! 🙂

Chipping away at the party rigging of the electoral process:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Progressive “Blue Revolution” Activists Confront Dem. Party at California Convention“)

Reminder: if we don’t fix the system profoundly, these incremental advances will simply be rolled back again. This time we must walk the last mile or we may never get another chance to overcome the tyranny with its rapid advancement of surveillance, brain washing, mind games, and control from the top.

At this point it might help to travel a year back to review our electoral rigging (Debbie Lusignan monitored the entire 2016 election rigging, and here she draws conclusions):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “On Post Partisan People’s Movement & Yes, Virginia, Election Fraud is Real (cc Justice Democrats)“)

Quotes:

We need a post-partisan people’s movement where we are bringing thinking people together of all the American people that are done with this cesspool of a duopoly that is utilizing this bi-partisan division to keep the American people from uniting to truly take our power. F**k uniting the left. Unite the American people and take away that partisan divide so we can actually heal.”

Hillary Clinton did not win the 2016 primaries. There was mass purging of voter rolls. We know that for sure. We have mass evidence of vote flipping on the machines with the exit polls not matching the official results. We have mass evidence of absentee ballot stuffing and caucus rigging and every other dirty trick in the book.”

Conclusion: What’s needed are candidates who commit to prosecuting election theft that denies them victory and voters who vote only for candidates who will do that and take no corporate money.

III. Where the Fruits of our Labor go

Following in the wake of the Vapid Lives of Destruction mini-series, here is another video documentary exposing how all that money is spent that gets funneled to the rich by plundering us with paycheck deductions, rents, interests, and taxes — all money that finds its way into the vaults of the robber billionaires and their millionaire minions.

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Million Dollar Rooms-The life of rich millionaires Rich,Bold, beautiful and spectacular “)

Comment: A personal ATM machine in your home adds an entire new dimension to gated living, doesn’t it?

IV. Final Discussions

Both of the following two discussions are worthwhile to listen to if or when you can make some time:

Wrestling with the corporatist “Democrats” (Kyle Kulinski & Jimmy Dore):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Did Progressives Win In Texas Primaries? w/Kyle Kulinski “)

Two smart young men discussing our country (lots of topics):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Ron Placone of the Jimmy Dore Show and 5 Chords & The Truth, Live!”)

~

Ending Note: It takes me at least 100 hours a month to research and write for this site and work on my book. Please share links to these articles or help in other ways. Thanks. Only together can we change this messed-up world. 🙂

Video Weekend 02-10-2018 (11 videos)

This weekend’s video compilation focuses on national politics and a wide array of economy-related topics, ranging from our oligarchy’s war on thinking, the Dempublican-Repucratic resistance against the will of the people, corporate deception, different segments of the public suffering from different economic changes, the unhealthy consequences of inequality and historic rise of inequality with the rising chance of violent revolutions.

I. National Politics:

Newsbroke: Anti-Intellectualism – The War on Thinking

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “The Rich Want To Keep You Dumb”)

Jimmy Dore: The Voter’s Will Keeps Getting Trampled by the Dempublicans

I reported on other ballot initiatives (such as laws against politician corruption) being trampled by state governments. Well, here is a new case once again:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Ranked Choice Voting Under Attack In Maine”)

HR: The “Dem” arm of the Dempublican Corporate Stooges:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Democratic Establishment Still Cheating Progressives, Shielding Corporatists “)

HR: The Manipulative Dishonesty of our Corporations

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “AT&T Caught Funding Fake Activism for Phony Net Neutrality “Protection” Law”)

II. Economics

Billionaire admits that tax gifts to the rich do nothing for us:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Have you gotten your $4,000 yet? “)

Richard Wolff – the abusiveness built into oligarchic power structures:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Richard Wolff On Hierarchies And Workplace Abuse“)

And now two talks on the consequences of inequality (you can skip the longer second if you are short on time since it overlaps with the first):

Inequality creates Unhealthy Societies by all Measures (17 min short):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “How economic inequality harms societies | Richard Wilkinson”)

Social Science: The psychological and health effect of income inequality (56 min long):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Inequality is unsustainable | Richard Wilkinson”)

Note: At 20:17 minutes in you may note that the U.S. is an outlier with regard to prison population since here we don’t only have the direct effects of income inequality, but in the U.S. we additionally have a racket in the form of private prisons and prison-profiteering supply companies which put pressure on our legislature to create them more prisoners to profit from. We also have a high share of politically motivated legal persecution (the war on drugs really always having been a war on Blacks and dissidents (such as the hippies once were)).

Economists sorting out the types of our current problems and solutions at the World Economic Forum (in part interesting because that’s the place where our oligarchs meet to hobnob and pat themselves on the shoulders while heads of governments visit to kiss their feet) (I must warn you of the chortling moderator, though, who clearly has no clue about the suffering many of us go through nowadays):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “How Is Rentier Capitalism Aggravating Inequality?”)

Thom Hartmann’s very telling recent interview of Richard Wolff:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Prof. Richard Wolff Believes Extreme Poverty in America is only Going To Get Worse”)

III. Media

A very rare case of honesty and significance in corporate media reporting (telling stuff I have been writing about all along, very surprising for the Clinton “News” Network, probably as part of their anti-Trump menu of dishes):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “U.S. May Soon Have Revolution”)

Ending Note: Being an independent media outlet is a lot of work (100+ hours per month in my case). Please help any way you can. (tip: sharing links to this site is a great, no-cost way to help) :-)
