European Thoughts Fitting our Fourth of July

statueofliberty

Independence Day is a special holiday held high and celebrated in different corners of society. For some it is just a brief relief from a never-ending money-earning drudgery. For others it is the holiday of their nationalist notions easily linked to fascist white supremacist ideas stuck into their heads from the top by the rich ruling class and their demagogic minions in politics and the mass media to divert (with xenophobia and hate speeches) their justified anger away from the true culprits and causes of their mutilated lives, thus turning them into a duped army of violent right-wingers and idiot voters. For others, like myself, it is an annual reminder of the great ideals of some of our heroic founding fathers whose liberating ideas spread around the world causing awe and love and hope, and even change — change from monarchies and dictatorships to democracies or even attempts at socialist economies (a natural consequence of the life, liberty, and happiness for all concept).   Continue reading “European Thoughts Fitting our Fourth of July”

Note: I grew up during the tail end of the ‘golden age’ expecting a just and fair life. All I have had is a shitty life. Similarly to this man, I have wished all the time I had never been born. That’s why on my way out of it, I fight for better conditions for those coming after me.   Continue reading “Political Awakening Video Weekend 2019-06-23 (20 videos)”

UBI to End our Economic Blood Sport

(Note: If the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for BEME News and the title: “Universal basic income: money for nothing”)

Above, Lou Foglia from BEME News gives an overview of the many stances and arguments on a universal basic income (not all of them but a lot), and he ultimately concludes (as do I) that the main reason to have it is to rescue us all from the blood sport that our current economy and job market is, one we never signed up for before we were born into it.

Electoral & Economic Integrity – Not Just Votes & Jobs for All

Labor Day Epitaph

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for Richard Wolff, Democracy At Work, and the title: “Economic Update: Capitalism Invites Deepening Criticism”)

Richard Wolff makes a most important point very eloquently in his Labor Day report: It is unconscionable when one man can take away the job and livelihood from another man. The man or woman who holds such power over other people’s livelihoods (typically an employer, although bureaucrats can also hold such power over us) can use it to blackmail those working people into giving up much of the prosperity they produce through their hard work. Such a livelihood controller gets rich and richer skimming off from the fruits of labor of the working folks who get poorer and poorer.   Continue reading “Labor Day Epitaph”

QuickyPinion: What the Term Liberty Means in Neoliberalism and Libertarianism

It means that only those at the top should be free. Absolutely free, at that — allowed to do anything they wish regardless of the consequences for others. That it is the Ayn Rand “philosophy” (if you want to call sociopathy a philosophy) which has been repackaged and resold within these two labels (sort of like Pepsi and Coke).

Even though people of these convictions purport to be paragons of liberty, they actually undermine the American ideal of liberty and justice for all. One has to always ask them: freedom for whom? Hannibal Lecter and the billionaires?

P.S.: Here on Beanstock’s World you can always improve your vocabulary with which to talk about the corrupticians and their corporate masters.

BTW, if yesterday’s 4th of July post was not enough, The Revolution Continues posted some moving texts and themes for our “Independence” Day and also raised the idea of Bastille Day. Highly recommendable. 😉

Video Weekend 05-06-2018 (12 videos)

A full dozen world view improving videos for the weekend. I apologize for not getting this out before Sunday this time. Having to do these things in my scarce spare time can cause delays. Anyway, the topics range from mentality for change, economy, democracy, our changing world, corrupt politics, imperialism, and disenfranchisement, to a visionary look at our present and future. Jimmy Dore’s team took the prize of making no less than five of this weekend’s featured videos. Other stars: Chris Hedges, Richard Wolff, Jesse Vetura, Jamarl Thomas, Frances Moore Lappé, and a bunch of monkeys that were not subjected to our mass media propaganda and thus behave more human than some of us…

I. Mentality for Change

Karl Marx’s hope to save democracy:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Economic Update: The Contributions of Karl Marx (Part I)”)

Exactly 200 years ago from yesterday, Karl Marx was born, a man who fell in love with the American and French Revolution and dedicated his life to rescuing their goals from a growing plutocracy. In the intervening two centuries, the plutocracy has spared no effort to demonize him. Today, as we begin to wake up to the evils of plutocratic rule, the time is ripe to take a fresh look at this perhaps most influential man in history.

II. Economy

Emplyee-Employer-War, No Recovery, Evictions over Chicken Feed, etc.:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Economic Update: Employees VS Employers — Endless Tensions”)

Note: The fact that in Germany employees have representatives at companies’ boards of governors resulted in German companies not laying off their workers during the big 2008 crash. Instead, they agreed with their workers to reduce pay and work hours until sales would rise again. So, people didn’t lose their jobs and companies didn’t lose their trained workers. As soon as sales rose again, they could simply increase the work hours and pay again and be instantly ready for recovered business opportunities.

III. Democracy

The fight for democracy:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “The Struggle to Wrest Back Control of Our Democracy with Frances Moore Lappé”)

Comment: Indeed, for so many brainwashed people, economic democracy is completely off the table, out of sight and out of mind, replaced by a quasi-religious worship of a so-called “free” market (which is anything but free nor creates anything even close to freedom except for a few despots… or else it is absurdly viewed as being natural rather than the creation of selfish thugs that lived in the past and paved the way for today’s dungheap society.

Good question asked by this lady: What is freedom when you can talk but not be heard? — This is precisely why I started Beanstock’s World, why anyone with a sensible story to tell or argument to make can send me an article I will post, and why all of us should spread the word about sites like this to our friends and family.

Note: Really interesting idea for public campaign financing (AKA getting money out of politics): vouchers (each voter gets 4 publicly financed vouchers worth $25 he or she can give to the candidates of their choice).

Here, by the way, you can watch the above-mentioned video footing about monkeys wanting justice:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Capuchin monkey fights for equal rights – Inside the Animal Mind: Episode 3 – BBC Two”)

Joke: Well, if I were still caught in the “good cop/bad cop” twin-party mentality I might jeeringly say that chimps are clearly not Republicans (despite the grinning chimp appearance of Reagan and G.W. Bush…), referring thereby to that group of well-off don’t-take-from-me-to-share-with-the-less-fortunate traditional Republican voters I described, side by side with several others, in my recent article Allies Against Democracy. ;-P

IV. The Changing World

Automation, threat or opportunity?

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “The Future of Work | SingularityU Germany Summit 2017”)

Best parts: 00:30–2:00 & 24:05–25:30

V. Corrupt Politics

The Dempublican twin-gang smuggles thugs into public office and gang member was caught admitting it:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “CAUGHT! Leaked Audio Reveals Democrats Cheating Progressives Again”)

Face of the political elite:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Hillary Has New Excuse On Why She Lost – Capitalism!”)

Really good discussion of our corrupt political elites:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Nancy Pelosi Admits She’s Ok With Cheating Progressives”)

The political ping pong of pretending we have only two voting choices keeps getting played on us by the establishment:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Democrats Lose Ground With Millennials – New Poll Reveals”)

VI. Imperialism

Our awful imperialist media supporting murderous governments:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “NY Times Jaw Dropping Biased Reporting On Israel”)

VII. Disenfranchisement

Citizenship without a right to vote:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Puerto Rico, Forgotten Territories & Jen Briney”)

VIII. Vision

The Meaning of freedom. I marked this video from last September back then to share here, but it seems that it fell through the cracks. In the wake of last fall’s Convergence Conference, Jamarl made very important points which haven’t become outdated and won’t for many years to come. So, here they are:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “After Nick Brana’s Draft Sander’s Convergence – Problems The Soft Left Must Confront”)

Undeniably true: People should have healthcare, they shoud have education, and they should have an income. Society shouldn’t be hostile to what it means to be human.

Ending Note: It takes me at least 100 hours a month to research and write news updates and analyses and work on my book. Please widely share links to these articles, so this work is not for naught. You can also help in other ways (including much needed financial support). Only together can we change this messed-up world. Let’s do it! 🙂

To End Wage Slavery

Something not everybody yet understands is that we need to work on our perception and mentality in order to solve our zoo of severe societal problems, such as our bad economy, our corrupt politics, denied healthcare, rampant debt and bankruptcy, the lack of good jobs with benefits, the lack of personal liberty, a world of repeatedly crushed dreams — a plethora of troubles that reflect a transition from a cooperative, neighborly, compassionate human culture to a wolf-eat-dog society.

Since we are so caught up in our current superficial fights over an economic band-aid here or a party-political tactic there, we are often too distracted to look at the underlying causes or even be aware of them. One way to bring them back to the surface is to briefly glance at our preceding generations in which our world changed to the messed-up world we live in today.

Glance #1: Most of our ancestral generations lived as hunters and gatherers, having no bosses to answer to and no money to worry about. Their work was authentic and genuine: hunt and gather food, make your own clothing, housing, and tools, and share with your tribe members as needed (both giving and receiving, thus everybody benefiting from strength in numbers).   Continue reading “To End Wage Slavery”
