Trump’s First Hundred Days of War Crimes | CounterPunch

CounterPunch Magazine tends to have good articles. The just published Trump’s First Hundred Days of War Crimes is far more worth reading than the title suggests, as it is not yet another insincere resist-Trump-to-distract-us-from-the-source-of-our-problems “news” piece or op-ed. Continue reading

We Better Don’t Overlook the Fundamental Enemy of Democracy and Justice

Richard Wolff compresses it into nine minutes (and I into a short written paragraph following the video):

Why Our U.S. Democracy is no Democracy (PS)

Democracy assumes (quite rightly) that power corrupts, at least in most cases, and leads to abuse. Democracy’s cure for this is to prevent the concentration of power by distributing it to as many people as possible. When they act in their self interest, the interests of the many, even of everybody, are taken care of — as opposed to only the interests of a few callous rulers.

But is that what we have? Continue reading…

Warping Democracy Here, There, and Everywhere

Sometimes it is useful to look over our borders to see how things are going in other countries. It can be like looking into a mirror, or it can provide a contrast which illuminates our own defects or foreshadows future developments that might be coming our way. Continue reading

Meet One of Our Lovely Extortionist Plutocrats

It’s not a million things going wrong in our economy, it’s only one – and it’s a pretty basic one. A small handful of people are hoarding all the resources and money for themselves. If we can prevent them from behaving so selfishly with our resources and redistribute their unimaginably large stashes of wealth (primarily in non-taxable offshore accounts) back into our economy, things would improve immeasurably…

Don’t Overlook This Anti-Corruption Battleground

With all the fuss surrounding Donald Trump, it’s easy to overlook this important American battleground. But we should be aware of it and do what we can there. I have written about it repeatedly. In short, Represent.Us fights to get anti-corruption laws passed in all our states to push money out of politics, a goal all honest and democracy-loving Americans share. Last November, the first state was won (South-Dakota), but the state’s legislature immediately declared a state of emergency (yes, I am not making this up!) and recently committed a coup d’état against its own people by brazenly overturning the ballot initiative the voters had passed, essentially telling their constituency: “You don’t get to decide what happens in your country and state. We do! You don’t get to stop our corruption. We rule! Forget democracy. We are lording it over you. Next we will elect ourselves, too.” What a way for state representatives to spit into their voters’ faces! (Man! First DAPL and now this! What is it with the Dakotas?). Represent.Us won’t give up so easily, however. They made the below video about their resolve to continue the fight you can join:

Russia or the Establishment? — Who’s Our True Enemy?

So, the manipulators for the oligarchy keep trying to get us to exhaust our energies over getting Trump impeached. And what then? Corporatist white supremacist Mike Pence? Another Shillary Clinton? Would that really help us making ends meet? Would we thereby no longer have to work longer hours for less pay? Would our corporate funded-politicians start listening to us and our needs again? Would our elections magically stop to be rigged against us, not even allowing us candidates we approve of? Continue reading

Remix of Cenk Uygur’s Miracles Speech

Cenk Uygur who lost some political capital when he endorsed Hillary Clinton after Bernie Sanders had capitulated and endorsed her (Bernie likewise losing political capital for this hard to understand move), still continues to often be right on many issues and has a knack for presenting the case well. Here is a speech he gave about Money in Politics and efforts to get Money Out of Politics, replete with some summary notes by me (in somewhat stronger language, which is why I called this brief blog post a remix). Cenk’s speech starts out slow but does get better:

The Establishment’s False Narratives – Fresh Again This Week

Since the last election cycle, the establishment’s manipulation efforts have been in overdrive. I hope you manage to resist their brainwashing. A brief review: Continue reading

Thought of the Day: Our Unconstitutional Presidents

There is much hullabaloo about constitutional violations of our newest U.S. president, Trump. Those who are constantly calling for resistance against him overlook that, at least since the G.W.-Cheney regime, all “our” presidents have been violating the U.S. constitution which they were sworn to uphold. The only thing worse is partisan citizens celebrating “their” guy from “their” party for these violations or else looking the other way. This goes for supporters of both gangs… pardon me… “political parties.”

We should hold our presidents and other representatives accountable to us and our constitution, no matter which group of ours they pretend to lean to.

Whenever we succumb to blind loyalty and thereby allow ourselves to be divided against each other, the robber billionaires and their presidents, legislators, and judges screw us out of our lives. They are our true enemies, not Russia, not a single puppet president, but rather the big money wielders behind the scenes who pull all the strings.

Comments welcome.
