Wakeful Video Weekend 2019-10-19, Part B (3 videos)

AOC’s Bernie endorsement and Bernie’s fantastic “Back” rally in New York after he is back out of the hospital:

I. AOC’s Bernie Endorsement

This is about a guaranteed advanced standard of living in the United States (the richest nation in hisory) with no ifs no no buts. Power to the people, and a Good Life for All:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Endorses Bernie For President
Bernie Sanders

Additional note: When we mention a people’s revolution, we should realize that this is simply a continuation of our famous 18th century American Revolution where the people shared these aims promoted again today but wealthy creeps subverted the outcome into the mess we are in today.

I hear the echo from the hopeful past: All people are created equal and endowed with unalienable rights – among these life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And the role of government by the consent of the governed is to reflect and protect these and other rights and promote the general welfare (a.k.a. a Good Life for All).   Continue reading “Wakeful Video Weekend 2019-10-19, Part B (3 videos)”

Yeah! Bravo, New York! The Candidate for the People Won!

Hooray! She did it! She won, and thus we the people won… in New York for now. There are many more places where we must and can win. If you missed it, here is last night’s election coverage of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (about whom I shared again on Sunday) running against one of our top corruptitians (by TYT, the only good coverage I could find so far… sure, TYT has its issues often still being stuck in old-fashioned party politics, but they still do good work with some regularity, better than the big corporate networks for certain):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for TYT and the title: “JUSTICE DEMOCRAT ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ DEFEATS JOE CROWLEY “)

Note: Remember, NY has public campaign financing making victories of people’s candidates running against the establishment so much more possible. Alexandria described it in a video clip shared on here last November. Here it is again, the part on Public Campaign Financing at 13:52 – 15:45 minutes:   Continue reading “Yeah! Bravo, New York! The Candidate for the People Won!”

Can Today’s Senate Vote on Net Neutrality, if Successful, Rescue Free Speech?

Sadly, even if the vote were to succeed, it may not go anywhere. This article I came across explains why. I am not familiar with the publication it appeared in, but the argumentation appears sound and leads to the conclusion that we must focus our fight less on particular battle fronts and more on the big picture war against systemic corruption. We must hurry to create a true democracy that’s rooted in a fair economy freed from the curse of Big Money. We may lose net neutrality pretty soon. So we better hurry with the fundamental political revolution we desperately need to pull off — best getting it done while we can still communicate effectively.

Ending Note: It takes me at least 100 hours a month of “spare time” to research and write news updates and analyses and work on my book. Please widely share links to these articles, so this work is not for naught. You can also help in other ways (including much needed financial support). Only together can we change this messed-up world. Let’s do it! 🙂

A Hopeful Monday

This Monday we can start a fresh week of wage slavery or school with a beautiful spark of hope. This weekend, after I had already posted my video weekend compilation which you hopefully didn’t miss, I came across two videos which rich in visual and visceral hope for our future. The enthusiasm of our young fellow citizens, often referred to as millennials, for radical change (currently still surrounding Bernie) is truly promising and delightful. Herewith I share both videos with you. Have a great Monday! 🙂

1. A beacon of hope:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Bernie Sanders: The Beatles Of Politics “)

2. Someone else shared this on Facebook: “Students go nuts for Bernie”

… and a great week, and a great future! 🙂

QuickyPinion: The Democratic Party Trap and Outside Pressure

We want change. We badly need change. Tea Partiers tried to make change happen from within the Republican Party, and right now people try to make it happen from within the “Democratic” Party and consider other approaches (like forming a new party or building up existing third parties) as a competition that weakens their own inside strategy.

What this stance overlooks is that, as long as the Democratic Party can rest assured that progressive/working class/leftist/Black/etc. voters have nowhere else to go, its party bosses will continue as before, unimpressed by any inside takeover attempts which they can squelch as long as they can count on sufficient votes. In the end, they don’t even need to win elections, since their deep pocket Big Money donors will gladly continue to dowse them with money for enabling their Republican buddies.   Continue reading “QuickyPinion: The Democratic Party Trap and Outside Pressure”

Video Weekend 03-03-2018 (12 videos)

A very varied compilation of enlightening videos, some heavy, some light, ranging from the trap of consumerism through political rigging and reform, Russiagate, immigrants, mindsets, mass shootings, the commercial manufacturing of the Christian right, and military spending to a great pair of very inspiring videos about our road forward:

  1. Consumerism (Consumption instead of Living)
  2. Exclusionary Presidential Debates
  3. Electoral Reform
  4. Russiagate
  5. Immigration
  6. Mindsets
  7. Military Nation
  8. Democracy & the Will of the People

I. Consumerism (Consumption instead of Living)

Selling Life for Consumption – Oh What a Great System (excerpt from a longer speech I shared before, I think):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “The Root Of Consumerism – Richard Wolff“)

II. Exclusionary Presidential Debates

There’s a lawsuit against the establishment’s silencing of public debate and exclusion of independent or third party candidates:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Lawsuit Could Change Presidential Debates Forever Says Attorney for Independent Voter Project“)

In case you somehow don’t really know about the exclusion and silencing that keeps most important ideas and issue discussions from us, watch this brief review:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Who Really Controls Presidential Debates?“)

Comment: I like how he finishes asking us to imagine having more than just 2 choices. Remember the two choices of 2016? Cholera or Plague, which did you prefer? (well, as I kept saying back then, you could have voted for Jill Stein, neither Cholera nor plague. Democratic voting is supposed to be voting for our preference, not a “lesser evil” forced down our throat, after all. How is it a democracy when we merely rubber-stamp the establishment’s pick?).

III. Electoral Reform

An attempt in Oregon to satisfy both the duopoly and the people:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “How Primary Elections Work: Oregon’s Revolutionary Primary Bills“)

IV. Russiagate

An opinion (and some relevant facts) on the topic of the manufactured Russiagate hysteria (best at the start and end):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “[Web Exclusive] Mueller Indictments Are A F**king Joke & It’s Dangerous“)

V. Immigration

A little gift to dreamers and other demonized “illegal” immigrants:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Why Undocumented Immigrants Are Superheroes | Newsbroke (AJ+)“)

Comment: Let’s not forget that people forced to migrate (and not too many leave their home towns, families, countries, cultures, and languages behind frivolously) are humans, too, like the rest of us. As an immigrant nation, we should really be aware of that.

VI. Mindsets in Politics

Left VS Right. How the American “Right” and “Left” look and talk past one another:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Are Republican Voters the Stupid Ones?”)

A lesson from Mass Shootings:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “[100] Parkland Teacher Says What Isn’t Allowed on MSM [EXCLUSIVE] “)

Comment: It’s true. Special ed fails consistently because the lords above insist on saving money on it. Lots of great measures have been written into law but can never been done because of underfunding. So, only cheap measures remain, like reseating a student, with the described consequences of stigmatization and isolation, even, or especially, in integrated classrooms. I have worked as a teacher. I know. – What’s left out in this episode is that even if we create a warm and supportive school environment, once young people enter the adult word, they are exposed to the cruel law of the jungle where the poisonous snakes and largest predators rule, having turned their predation into law, and then you get adults losing it and engage in mass shootings in a vain effort to end this immoral civilization.

Manufacturing Believes. The money-milking, profiteering, attention-whorish, PR-professional source of the religious right (the types who support death penalty and overwhelmingly worship Trump):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “How to Stop Being a Fundamentalist Evangelical Christian“)

VII. Military Nation

The Role of the Pentagon (besides war profiteering):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Noam Chomsky: The Military Is Misunderstood“)

VIII. Democracy & the Will of the People

People’s Platforms Can and Do Win:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Polls Show Jeremy Corbyn Leading Labour To Stunning Destruction of Tories in Local Elections“)

Building the Movement to reverse our Runaway Inequality:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “MPP-TV Third Series Interview With Les Leopold”)

Comment: Become a movement builder and boost and assist other movement builders like me or those I present here all the time. 😉

Quotes: progressives colonized by the DP, financial strip mining (Wall Street, financialization, etc.)

Bombshell information at 40:29: When the progressive movement of the 1890s entered the “Democratic” Party too soon, they became dissipated and colonized. Conclusion: befriending one’s too-powerful enemy is risky. Depending on relative power, holding back and building your own power can be the better choice. Since we awoken people are currently trying both inside and outside strategies, let’s be prepared for setbacks and stay flexible to jump ship when necessary, but never give up on our longterm goals of a prosperous and fair country for all, and – most importantly – not see each other as competitors when we are currently working with different strategies.

The Great People’s Platform

I want to share this remarkable piece of work with you. As I and others have pointed out before, being against bad conditions of our current world isn’t enough. To move forward, we also need a vision of the future we want. I shared with you my own attempt at a draft of a people’s platform (or agenda, or wish list) in 2016 as a way to kindle a discussion. It is still up for reading and a Facebook Page for commenting on it is also still up.

However, the Movement for a People’s Party (which started out as the Draft Bernie for a People’s Party idea and movement but evolved beyond Sanders by now, looking especially at forming a people’s coalition outside the twin-party tyranny; a way to have third parties, old and new, work together against the tyranny and to give us, the people, our voice back in our country’s affairs) just came out with its own more fleshed-out draft and is inviting everybody to take a look and make their own proposals. If you wish to really go deep, you could compare their draft with my draft and point out the gaps in each. 😉 Admittedly, I have been too busy these days to read the MPP draft from end to end. How do other people get by with only 24 hours in a day?

Anyway, perhaps you can make the time in a timely fashion. Here are two snippets from this platform document to raise your interest:
