The Real Kavanaugh Lesson

The take-home lesson from Kavanaugh’s confirmation is nothing slight: We, the people of the United States, must resolve to force fundamental change of the system governing our lives. No more aiming low for some little tweak here, some tiny twiddling there, the symbolic victory of a black or female (but still corrupt) president, a my-tribal-major-party-loyalty-attached supreme court justice, or the “lesser evil” on the ballot.

Delving Deep into our Souls (Video + Commentary)

To make true and lasting change we must think things through thoroughly. This conversation will likely stimulate some mental review of your positions:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Prominent Progressive Sours On Bernie 2020 “)

Comment: I agree on the questionability of Bernie’s foreign policy stance in the past (it seems to be getting better, though, and he may simply have been picking his battles strategically). Personally, I’d still support him against most probable opponents. I also agree that within the “Democratic” Party he probably couldn’t accomplish all that much. I’d definitely prefer him to run independent or for a third/new party since I by now seriously doubt that either arm of the Big Money Party (known as Republican and “Democratic” arms) are reformable, and if the “Democratic” Party which for such a long time has been occupying the position of the working people’s party, but only very insincerely so for the last 30-40 years, can be reformed into actually becoming that, I am quite certain that it will require enormous outside pressure to do so — basically the knife of replacement by a third/new party held at it’s party bosses’ throat.   Continue reading “Delving Deep into our Souls (Video + Commentary)”

Video Weekend 06-02-2018 (15 videos)

More fun than usual. Today’s compilation of politically educational online videos — intended for the weekend when we can make some time to educate ourselves or to relax over more enriching footage than some overpaid guys chasing a ball — is a bit lighter in spirit than it so often turns out, thanks to a bit more humor having been sprinkled in. Topics:

  1. The Evangelical Dark Side
  2. How to Talk Politics
  3. The Lying Top
  4. Dem Takeover
  5. Amazing Progressive Campaign (Wow!)
  6. Economy
  7. Nativist Supremacy (+ Humor)
  8. Totalitarianism on the Rise

I. The Evangelical Dark Side

Today’s Video Weekend starts out with a video that honors Newsbroke which just went to the grave. (at least for now, there will be no new castings by Newsbroke)

Purported Christians doing evil as their religious duty:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Why Does The Religious Right Worship A Sinner? “)

And since we are on the topic…

Evangelical terrorists (trying to bring about Armageddon):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “How White Evangelicals Sold Their Soul to Donald Trump To Bring About Armageddon”)

And why it is so sweet…:

Give the priest class private jets:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Televangelist Wants Regular Folks To Pay For His 4th Private Jet”)

And since preachers and corrupt politicians are so skilled at messing with people’s heads, let’s take a look at how to effectively frame conversations:

II. How to Talk Politics

Frame On! How to get through to people:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “How words change minds: The science of storytelling | Nat Kendall-Taylor | TEDxMidAtlanticSalon“)

Of course, this is nothing new to the ruling class and their minions. They have manipulated us with psychological tricks and blatant lies for ages. Time to take another look at them…

III. The Lying Top

Lying governments and media:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “All Governments Lie and so does their Corporate Media”)

IV. Dem Takeover

~50% success rate in replacing establishment “Democrats” with people’s representatives:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Our Revolution Just Won SEVEN Races“)

Analysis: Is this 50% success in the primaries actually taking over (and “reforming”) the “Democratic” Party from within? I don’t think so. I’d say it’s 50% success only with step #1. After the first step comes battling the mechanics and top-down control within the party where further setbacks will occur. Remember, once elected, representatives have to put up with stonewalling, stalling, party pressure, marginalization, exclusion, compromise deals, and worry about re-election. So, sooner or later they have much cause to taper down their goals, ally with the establishment politicians, take Big Money to revive their campaigns, and give up the ever more hopeless-looking resistance against the almighty party top steeped in money and corruption. This is pretty much what I have been predicting for about a year: some short term success, but no chance of long term success unless hefty outside pressure is also brought to bear (from independents and third/new parties, or even better: a coordinated people’s coalition). Merely slipping in a few good people at the bottom of the cesspool won’t suffice to clean it up.

Politicians of stolen wealth pretending to represent us (unlike Robin Hood, they don’t steal from the rich and share with the poor; they do the opposite: enabling the super-rich to steal more from the poor and for that get their cut while in office — the Clintons have been doing the exact same thing, btw):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: »Heckler Confronts Pelosi Whats Your Net Worth!?!? -«)

The privileged don’t care to question and replace the rigged system:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Nancy Pelosi Repels Young People On CNN Town Hall“)

V. Amazing People’s Candidate Campaign (Wow!)

Wow! Wow! A must-watch! Alexandria, running on public campaign financing and the power of grassroots, managed to make an ad. And what an ad it is!

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Powerful Ad Has Corporate Dems Shook: ‘Not All Democrats Are The Same’“)

VI. Economy

More on BS jobs created by our warped system (one of the discoveries to lead to the conclusion that we need not make people work more but rather distribute better what we already have and produce (e.g. a UBI instead of limitless dividends for the rich)):

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Bullsh** Jobs Are Invading America!“)

When we would decide how to apply our improved mechanized productivity, we might choose to cover all our needs while working less and and living more (at least I would), but when a few holders of robbed and hoarded wealth got to make the big decisions, they instead revved up production past what we need and kept us shackled in excessive working hours lest we have time to think and take a stand for better lives:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Why Infinite Growth Cant Work“)

VII. Nativist Supremacy (+ Humor)

One of the last Newsbroke videos: White supremacy hiding behind linguistics (as always a tool to keep the privileged privileged by recruiting the less privileged over issues of skin color, language, and what not… you know, identity politics).

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Powerful White Nationalists Behind the English Only Movement“)

Comment: If you ask me, the English language is quickly deteriorating in both the U.S. and the U.K. (and maybe elsewhere)? Past subjunctive, past perfect, and even past participles distinct from past tense are disappearing quickly (example: I have gone = correct. I have went = wrong but increasingly common). Muricans and Brits are losing their timeline. And then the spreading use of “of” in place of “have”! It tickles me in funny ways when people who are not in full command of their own native language deride others over being slow to learn it or over daring to use another tongue once in a while, say when they prefer not to be eavesdropped upon or have something important to discuss for which their still deficient second language doesn’t quite suffice yet. Or because Spanish is far more capable of communicating love and affection than English ever was or will be…

Uhm… so what really is English? Here’s a bit of humor on the topic:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Rude Americans – Do you speak English? “)

Or how about Brits making fun of American vocab? It’s titled “Americans Don’t Understand English”.

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Americans Don’t Understand English – The Jonathan Ross Show “)

Now imagine me going off about the decay of pronunciation in the U.K., such as when Mark Blyth makes astute commentaries about our economy and politics and is so darn hard to understand with all those missing consonants? I mean, there are some profound-seeming videos with him talking that I haven’t shared because they were just too unintelligible in spoken form (same goes for some Austrians).

VIII. Totalitarianism on the Rise

Below all the flashy and noisy political battles, totalitarianism is quietly creeping in. Connect the dots to see it. How antidemocratic plutocratic forces establish totalitarian power (right out of Hitler’s playbook):

Part 2 (ok)
Part 3 (good)

Strategy Condensed: The Way Forward

To solve our tragic and growing problems while we still can(!), we must put aside traditional party allegiances and blind loyalties, and instead join forces to focus primarily on election integrity (so our votes count and aren’t suppressed), on getting money out of politics (so our votes even matter), and on reforming our extremely rigged economic system so it can’t continue to fuel money in politics and the manipulative narratives which currently shape much of public opinion. Blood money from our rigged economy finances two corrupt major parties, an army of lobbyists 42,000 strong, and nation-wide brainwashing through “think tanks” and corporate mass media. This is how the establishment recovered from FDR’s New Deal and re-corrupted absolutely everything. I suppose that, while we are at it, we should also break up the big media trusts, not just the big banks. What say? In the meantime, let’s make use of and support alternative media like this one, so we can grow our own awareness and that of those around us. Naturally, let’s push for our immediate needs, as well: healthcare for all and reasonable drug prices, income security, a fair corruption-free justice and law enforcement system, free education at all levels, protection of communities and the environment, and so on.

Be a leader. Be one of the first to vote outside the twin party tyranny when outside candidates are far better than the corporate stooges dominating the Dempublican charade. There are still people who let themselves be played by the you-can’t-vote-third-party-or-independent-unless-the-majority-is-already-doing-so fib. That’s a trick to maintain the status-quo, and the way to break through this is to lead the way rejecting this false choice narrative.

Video Weekend 03-17-2018 (7 videos)

This weekend’s video compilation focuses on the corruption of our political elite, real election hacking, mentalities that prevent or promote change for the better, and practical strategies for healthcare for all:

  1. Corrupt Congress et al.
  2. Election Integrity
  3. Mentality
  4. Strategy

I. Corrupt Congress et al.

More news on the corrupt political machine of the “Democrats”:

A spicy speech by Mike Figueredo about the latest betrayal in Congress:

If he could have controlled himself from using the eff word our younger generation seems to be addicted to, his speech would have been absolutely perfect once he got going.

U.S. corruption explained as Un-American:

III. Mentality

Changing minds change the world:

Understanding voters. Republican voters in this case. Best spots in the video are at 0:38 and 8:00 min in:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Why Do Republican Women Love A Party That Hates Them?”)

IV. Strategy

Figuring out a way forward in health coverage:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Progressive Has Message For Rural Virginia-Justin Santopietro Running For Congress “)

Caveat: this reminds me of past failures of public option approaches where all the patients private insurance don’t want were pooled in the public option overwhelming it financially. That aspect was unfortunately not discussed in this conversation. Still, thinking about the VA, Medicaid-Medicare relationship, federal vs state financing, and so on certainly belongs into a forward strategy.

The People’s Position Must be NO!

Once you realize how thoroughly our country’s system is rigged in all its aspects — the economy, the government, elections, and the corporate mass media — the only logical stance to take is to reject it.

As it turns out, we are getting played every second of our lives. At work we are being bossed around from the top with the virtual gun of financial ruin held to our head, and so we are forced not only to put up with abusive treatment and little to no say, but with shamefully low pay after having much of the value we create through our work stolen from us when it is swiped into the vaults of CEOs and shareholders (or single company owners in the case of non-traded companies).

When we pay rent, we are being made to finance the acquisition of real estate by our landlords, and when we pay a mortgage we are being made to enrich the banksters. When we seek help in a health crisis, we are being made to enrich doctors, insurance magnates, and the owners of drug companies and equipment manufacturers while our health is merely a second or third priority or no consideration at all. When we try to get a good education, we are forced to go into possibly lifelong debt only to never find a good job despite great qualifications.   Continue reading “The People’s Position Must be NO!”

QuickyPinion: The Democratic Party Trap and Outside Pressure

We want change. We badly need change. Tea Partiers tried to make change happen from within the Republican Party, and right now people try to make it happen from within the “Democratic” Party and consider other approaches (like forming a new party or building up existing third parties) as a competition that weakens their own inside strategy.

What this stance overlooks is that, as long as the Democratic Party can rest assured that progressive/working class/leftist/Black/etc. voters have nowhere else to go, its party bosses will continue as before, unimpressed by any inside takeover attempts which they can squelch as long as they can count on sufficient votes. In the end, they don’t even need to win elections, since their deep pocket Big Money donors will gladly continue to dowse them with money for enabling their Republican buddies.   Continue reading “QuickyPinion: The Democratic Party Trap and Outside Pressure”

U.S. Politics: Friends fighting Friends

Let’s never forget: we are all in this together.

One topic I keep having to revisit is the massive in-fighting I see among those who have woken up to the fact that our country (and therefore the quality of our lives) is a total mess, and who want to change this. The disunity that has been spread among us from above is often so bad that, even when I try to bring people together on the issues by debunking the myths and false narratives which divide us, I end up getting accused of divisiveness.

An example of what can get me such ridiculous accusations would be any thoughtful response I make to the weird claim that supporting causes of true value in 2016 was a big mistake because we all should instead have lined up behind Hillary Clinton (a representative of the establishment) as she would allegedly have been less bad than Trump (another representative of the establishment, albeit one who claimed not to be). Something else that can get me smeared is when I support an inside-outside strategy for political change, as some people fight on the inside path and regard the outside path as competition and vice versa. Another statement that can get me smeared is when I point out that any Russian meddling in our 2016 election, when seen in proportion to our domestic election rigging, could never have been a truly big deal — no bigger than a Russian passerby tossing a lit cigarette into a burning house. (I’ll get into a little detail on this below.)   Continue reading “U.S. Politics: Friends fighting Friends”
