Happy Thanksgiving 2018 from Beanstock’s World

As Thanksgiving is coming up and many of us hopefully manage to team up with family or friends, awkward tensions over political issues may arise. Therefore, today I share articles, mini-pieces, and videos to prepare you well.

On Thanksgiving we meet to celebrate our communal connections, our sense of belonging, the things we either have or hope to have some day, or a famous past that we profit from in the present — such as past inventions, medical developments, economic and political developments… uh, oh… maybe not the latter… It may be worth to take a look at a path towards a Good Life for All or at issues that cause tension in our families or circles of friends, and a possible way to resolve them constructively.

Tax Cuts as an Excuse for Government Spending Cuts on the People

People need to wake up to the game that has been played by the Republican and neoliberalized “Democratic” Party to defraud the American People.

To summarize, our founders intended to create a government which would ensure liberty, justice, and prosperity for all. Any other kind of government they considered subject to revolution. But our government has since then be bought up by our plutocratic and kleptocratic oligarchs to kill democracy and have government do the reverse of its duty to us. 

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare Continues to Fight Trumpcare

The Congressional Budget Office has finally caught up with estimating the damages of the Trumpcare 2.0 bill rammed through the House of Representatives and waiting for Senate approval: 23 million will lose health coverage. The bill will also cut $834 billion from Medicaid, which will threaten access to long-term care benefits, hike premiums for older Americans by as much as five times, and all that while giving the wealthiest Americans the lion’s share of a lavish $663 billion tax break for the wealthy! 

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare Wants to Hear from You

As you know, there is a debate raging in Washington over the future of Social Security — some lawmakers are calling for strengthening and boosting benefits while others wish to cut and privatize Social Security. (privatize = limit retirement and health care protection to the already well-off but also expose it to heists and losses at Wall Street, if you ask me)

Another Hit Coming? Moves to RAISE Retirement Age & CUT Social Security?

If this is true (and it would fit the pattern), the tone of this article published on Learn Progress is quite appropriate. A word of caution: the news media are very quiet about this, and the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare seems to think the current attacks are still aimed at reviving the evil Trumpcare, not retirement and such.
