Video Weekend 10-14-2017 (7 Videos)

This weekend’s anti-corporatist, pro-democratic video collection has two parts. The first starts with some news — one on healthcare sabotage, the other on our kleptocracy’s failure to help the hurricane-ravaged U.S. colony Puerto Rico — and then ends with a somewhat humorous bit on a sane view of reality. The second part is about the last element in the unholy trinity of oppression by the 1%: censorship. (The first two elements of this unholy trinity are economic enslavement and political manipulation, and you can read yesterday’s article about those if you haven’t already.) Today, I am adding insights into the third element since censorship is sharply on the rise in America this year.

.

Part 1 – News & Miscellaneous Stuff

News: Obamacare Gutted

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Trump Guts Obamacare With Executive Order “)

News: No Help for Puerto Rico

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Where Are Puerto Rico’s Supplies Going? (You’ll Be Shocked!) “)

A word to the wise adapted from a comment made in this interview by New York State Senator Gustavo Rivera, as he explained his motivation for working to help Puerto Rica recover: Let’s never let the mix of sadness, anger, and frustration shut us down!

Sanity:

A cure for Bill Maher? I doubt it. But this one is for a cherished friend of mine:

Part 2 – Censorship

Why we need non-US-government-allied foreign media to publish in the U.S.:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “These 5 Censored Books Tell a History the Establishment Wants Hidden “)

…and, what’s worse? Fake news, which will never go away, or censorship?

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Facebook decides censorship is better than fake news “)

… and to draw a line under it:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Punishing Reporters for Truth in a Censored Media | Abby Martin & Amber Lyon “)

… Does anyone need another reason why this is important?

Just so you know, our corporate government last month officially permitted US networks censorship of RT (and any other content that is “owned or controlled by the Government of the Russian Federation”). This assault on free speech has been buried deep inside the 2018 defense budget to make it less conspicuous. The oligarchs of today have become very sneaky. They manage to raise their resurrection of the former Soviet iron curtain quietly and in the dark. This is why we need independent media more than ever.

One More Thrust to Destroy the GOP’s Wealthcare Zombie (ACA-Repeal, Trumpcare)

As I think I recently mentioned, Republican “leaders” are hurtling one more time toward an Obamacare repeal, and we must tell them “No!” — Even as Bernie Sanders has put forth his Medicare for All bill, the worst of the worst in Washington are still hell-bent on shredding federal protections found in the Affordable Care Act, killing its subsidies and Medicaid expansion, and suffocating the fifty-year Medicaid program that benefits everyone from newborns to seniors in nursing homes. If we don’t stop them, they will do it this month before time runs out for them.

I want to share with you a passionate, excellently written and informative article: We Can Stop the GOP’s Dash to Destroy Health Care

Quotes:

“The GOP lawmakers who demand repeal, and the rich donors who back them, don’t seem to mind bulldozing our health care to make way for their tax cuts and market-based dystopia. … An unprecedented national solidarity has blossomed around the repeal proposal – in opposition to it. … That opposition includes medical and hospital groups. Patient organizations. Republican and Democratic governors. The health secretary for the home state of the bill’s top sponsor. Veterans. People who simply believe every person in our country deserves, and should get, health care. … So, call, call, call – not just to your senators, but to your representatives in the House, too. (Here’s the number for the Capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121. But call local offices, too!”

I quickly dug up the following (untried by me) places to find phone numbers:

And this page gives you an idea of where the political creatures live:

Takeaway from Bernie’s MfA Unveiling

Medicare for All. We all want it. And the healthcare profiteers and their political cronies have been fighting it tooth and nail since FDR’s days, happy to see us suffer and die as long as they can extort us.

In fact, blocking healthcare for all isn’t enough for the worst of the political leeches in office. The crooks in the “right” arm of the establishment party (the arm called the Republican Party) are gearing up for yet one more effort to repeal Obamacare (despite the fact that he copied it from them). Despite all the popular unrest about this, they still wish to replace it with that heinous billionaire tax gift that is Trump’s wealthcare plan. (with a “w” rather than “h” when not mendaciously misspelled). At the same time, if sparingly released news are to be believed, arguably the worst of them all, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is making yet another attempt to demolish Medicare by privatizing the program to mainly benefit huge insurance companies while also giving yet more tax breaks to the very wealthiest Americans. (Can people who so betray the American people really still be called Americans?)

In the meantime, to move the fight for justice forward, Bernie recently unveiled his new Medicare for All bill proposal. Here is the ceremony:

A Conservative Has Come Around to Support Universal Healthcare

Editor’s Note: As I keep saying, I don’t live in a left-right or conservative-liberal mental cage. In my view, these devisions of the people are cultivated by our oligarchs while, in reality, each and every one of us carries inside a mix of conservative and progressive ideas, “right” and “left” notions, and a zoo of diverse opinions — even more so when we start to think things through. Still, many people do still self-identify as belonging to this camp or that camp, and – by the way they talk – they fit one of the official molds. The author I present today (for the second time) fits the “conservative” (or libertarian?) mold. He admits to have originally sneered at universal health care and greatly favored our “free market” private health insurance system (personally, I wonder what is supposed to be free about private insurers holding our health for ransom). However, he has come around to support government-financed universal healthcare. Below you can discover what made him change his mind. — Dirk Droll

So, here is Jon Saltzman’s most recent argument for universal healthcare, first published yesterday (08-01-2017) on Political Storm and reprinted here with his permission (remember: you, too, can submit an article to this blog):  Continue reading “A Conservative Has Come Around to Support Universal Healthcare”

Update: Current Health War Fronts, 7-28-2017

I have been bringing current health war news and announcing health war fronts (like signature and donation drives) every few days. Things are happening so fast that another update is due, for example about tomorrow’s rallies. So, here goes:  Continue reading “Update: Current Health War Fronts, 7-28-2017”

The Spear to Pierce Both Obamacare AND Trumpcare and Get us Healthcare for All

As the repeal war on Obamacare has risen from the dead again, as I warned last weak it probably would, and as you may be making calls to your senators and signing petitions, it is probably the best course for us to demand the kind of health coverage that would achieve both highly sought goals: get rid of the admittedly very flawed Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare” which, through a mandate, tries to force people into private insurances that are often bad and unaffordable to them) and give us what America really needs and wants: healthcare for all!  Continue reading “The Spear to Pierce Both Obamacare AND Trumpcare and Get us Healthcare for All”

It’s No Time to Let Our Guard Down

If you keep reading my blog, you now know that the big fish in our government (White House, Congress, etc.) not only betray us for the sake of campaign contributions and follow-up lobbyist jobs or “speaking engagement” kickbacks (and the occasional insider trading) from the robber billionaires, but even play the stock market against us. You die from denied healthcare, your insurance company pockets the difference, and our so-called representatives in Congress buy the quick-to-rise insurance stocks to make their own additional killing — in more than one way. That’s the plan.

The Healthcare Repealers in Congress Invest in Private Insurance Stocks (Video)

Any more doubt that these parliamentarians kill us out of greed? Watch this Jimmy Dore video:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for the title: “Congressmen Repealing Obamacare Now Buying Health Insurance Stocks”)

Let’s not forget that these “elected” “representatives” who only represent their own greed (and therefore also the greed of their billionaire donor cronies) were preselected by the robber billionaires in every election. We never put them on the ballot! We only get to rubber-stamp those establishment picks on the ballots! We must fight for a better system!

(Boy, was I tempted to write establishment p*icks, if you know what I mean…)

Private Health Insurances: They are Protection Rackets

Give us money or you will suffer and die:

(Note: if the video linked above gets deleted, you may search the Internet for title: “Mal Hyman for Congress” and “My Stance on Healthcare”)

Mal Hyman is spot-on describing our private health insurances as protection rackets. Pay us through the nose or suffer and die. That’s exactly how mafiosi make their rounds to collect your hard-earned money. Doctors and nurses don’t talk that way, but they need to get paid for their work like everyone else. Unfortunately, this means that when we get seriously sick, so that treatment costs exceed our savings, we are in deep trouble if we can’t pay.  Continue reading “Private Health Insurances: They are Protection Rackets”
